BBC4 Acquires Second Season of Swedish Wallander

BBC4 has acquired the new second series of Swedish Wallander, the captivating detective drama based on new original stories by best-selling author Henning Mankell. Currently in production, the 13 x 90’ series has also been sold to France (M6 Group), Canada (Télé Québec), Russia (Teleseriya TV), Belgium (Lumière), Poland (Canal +), Bosnia and Serbia (Kip).

Created by renowned author Henning Mankell, Wallander has already won the hearts of millions of viewers through an acclaimed first season in Sweden and a gripping 6 x 90’ series for the BBC starring Kenneth Branagh.

The Swedish Wallander is distributed worldwide by Zodiak Entertainment Distribution and produced by Swedish production company Yellow Bird, owned by Zodiak Entertainment. Yellow Bird is internationally renowned for turning best-selling Scandinavian thriller books into TV and theatre blockbusters, the finest example being the hugely successful recent adaptation of the famous Millennium trilogy.

Emmanuelle Bouilhaguet, Scripted Sales Director at Zodiak Entertainment said, “This new Swedish film series is Scandinavian crime at its best – realistic, gripping and illuminating the dark corners of modern society. We’re delighted with these sales, as the series was only launched at MIPCOM in October. We will be announcing further sales to major territories in the coming months”.
